There's been a lot of recent debate about the proposed NYC trial in civilian court of 9/11 terrorist Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Now the trial is going to be held elsewhere because NYC doesn't want it.
But the problem here isn't just the venue (although it was a very dumb choice). We should also be wondering why it will be a civilian trial at all? This should be done in military court. A public trial could potentially reveal American intelligence information that would be useful to future terrorists. At the very least, it would reveal every painful detail, no matter how small, allowing all terrorists to revel in the suffering they've caused.
Seems like just the kind of thing that would let them pat themselves on the back & encourage them to do more of the same. This was an attack on our soil by hostile foreign forces. One of the reasons we have a military is to handle just this kind of thing. It's all very simple, so why aren't our highest elected officials aware of these basic facts?
